Frequently asked questions.
Where do I go to check my kids in?
Standing in the foyer facing the sanctuary you will go to the left. This is the children’s hall. There is a check in desk with a friendly face to get your kids checked into our system.
Are there activities for kids during all service times?
Yes, however there are a few times during the year that we encourage families to attend the service together.
What does a typical Sunday morning look like for kids?
Kids participate in a multitude of activities. When kids arrive, they are led to their small group classrooms until it is time for our service to begin. During this time, they are engaging with leaders through activities and conversations. When service begins, we have worship, stage games, and large group bible lesson. Next kids go back to their small group classes to dig deeper into the bible application from the lesson. Snack is provided at this time. If any time remains there are organized games and free play.
What does a typical Wednesday look like for kids?
Kids are checked in and go straight to their classroom to work on handbood time (reciting scripture). Wednesdays are reserved for our Awanas Clubs Program and Awanas Clubs on Fire. We start the night in the classroom and have a healthy snack (most kids come straight from school and are hungry). Kids then come together for assembly where we say our pledges and then split into Cubbies (Prek-K) Sparks (1st-2nd), T and T (3rd-6th) and ON FIRE (1st-6th Independent Readers who move at a fast pace in scripture memory).Classes then rotate through time slots for organized games.
What do you do to keep my child safe while in your care?
We use a 5-part system put in place by the Ministry Safe program. 1. All volunteers must compete Ministry Safe Sexual Abuse Awareness Training and pass a test on the material. 2. All volunteers must pass a multi-level and multi-jurisdictional background check. 3. We require parents or guardians to check in their child or children and pick them up with a claim ticket that is personalized to the family and changes with each new check in. 4. We practice “The rule of 3” interactions with kids and adults to ensure that we stay above reproach in everything we do. 5. We report any suspected abuse according to Texas state law.
Do you have an area for nursing moms?
Yes, we have a room in the children’s area for moms who are nursing. The room is set up with a live stream of the service, so you don’t miss anything, low lighting, changing station with diapers, wipes and dirty diaper disposal bags, water and special treats for the nursing mom, a comfy rocker and a door that locks. This room is located in the back of the assembly area and any Nursery staff can assist you with any of your needs.
What if my baby gets upset in the Nursery?
Children are not left to cry for long periods of time and parents are notified during service so that coming to nursery can be a positive experience.
